 WAYNESBORO, Ga. — The community of Waynesboro is grieving the heartbreaking death of Kennarius Roshawn McBride, who was killed on Thursday, November 13, after a shooting incident at the Sunoco gas station located on E. 7th Street. According to officials, the event started as a dispute inside the convenience store, which intensified into gunfire, resulting in McBride suffering fatal injuries.



The Burke County Sheriff's Office and the Waynesboro Police Department arrived at the location shortly after noon. McBride was rushed to Burke Medical Center but unfortunately did not survive his injuries. The abrupt and violent circumstances of his death have brought shock and sorrow to his family, friends, and neighbors.

Authorities reviewed video footage from the scene and identified Jalen Floyd Cox as a key suspect. Cox later surrendered himself to the Burke County Detention Center, while officials stress that the investigation remains underway.
