Mason TerBurgh Obituary Death News: 19-Year-Old Mason TerBurgh from Clio Sadly Passed Away in a Construction Incident in Montrose Township

 MONTROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The local community is grieving the heartbreaking passing of 19-year-old Mason TerBurgh from Clio, who lost his life in a construction mishap on the afternoon of November 11, 2025. Officials report that Mason was operating a mini excavator at a job site located on the 12000 block of Wilson Road when the vehicle slid down an inclined, wet, and icy area, causing it to overturn and tragically lead to his death. Emergency personnel declared Mason deceased at the scene.



The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) along with Montrose Township Police are conducting an inquiry into the accident. The name of the involved company has not yet been disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing. The loss of Mason marks the 39th workplace-related fatality in Michigan for the year, serving as a somber reminder of the risks faced by workers daily.

Born on January 16, 2006, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Mason was a proud and skilled fiber optics technician with Do It Rite Cable Inc. Known for his commitment, expertise, and contagious enthusiasm, Mason approached each day with zeal and a zest for life. He loved the great outdoors, whether fishing with his closest friend Hunter, riding dirt bikes, camping under the night sky, hunting, or sharing joyful moments around bonfires with friends. Cooking and having fun with his siblings were also among his passions, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Mason was deeply loved as a son, grandson, nephew, brother, and friend. He is survived by his parents, Brian (Tamara) TerBurgh and Brandi Taylor (Micheal Lasley); siblings Mckenna (Jake) Strand, Jacob (Chloe) TerBurgh, Jackson Stevens, Wyatt Taylor, Coralin May, and Gauge Stinnett; niece and nephew Oakleigh TerBurgh and Huckson Strand; grandparents Jacob (Brenda) TerBurgh and Frank (Denise) Stevens; great-grandparents Mike (Diane) Reynolds, Jane Barrett, and Julie Stevens; extended family, close friends, and his girlfriend, Maddie Hardacre. His passing is preceded by several family members, including great-grandfathers, a grandfather, an uncle, and an aunt.

Mason’s life will be commemorated with two memorial services on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio: the first service at 1:00 p.m., led by Pastor Wesley Hunter, and the second at 5:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Bill Christensen. Family members will be available to greet visitors prior to both services.

While Mason’s life ended tragically, the warmth, happiness, and zeal he brought to his family, friends, and community will be remembered. His legacy serves as a meaningful reminder of the ephemeral and invaluable nature of life and the significant influence one young individual can make in the surrounding world.
