ST. PAUL, MN — An ordinarily calm segment of I-94 became the site of tragedy on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2025, when a fast-moving vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of 31-year-old Benjamin Michael Villano, a resident of St. Paul known for his warmth, humor, and generous nature.
The preliminary report indicates that 22-year-old Musab Ibrahim Kosar, from Fridley, was operating a Tesla at a dangerously high speed when he exited the highway and collided with an SUV that was crossing the intersection at Dale Street. The SUV’s driver, Benjamin Michael Villano, aged 31 and also from St. Paul, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Regions Hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased.
Kosar and a 19-year-old female passenger were also admitted to Regions Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Officials state that all three individuals involved in the accident were restrained by seatbelts. It is currently unknown whether substances such as alcohol or drugs influenced the accident.
Eyewitnesses recounted the sound of a loud crash followed by the wailing of sirens as first responders arrived at the location. “There was this massive noise, and then there were flashing lights everywhere,” shared one nearby resident. “It’s something you never imagine could occur so close to where you live.”
The severity of the crash left debris scattered across the road, leading officials to temporarily shut down the exit ramp while members of the State Patrol’s crash reconstruction team conducted an investigation of the area. Officers spent several hours gathering evidence, analyzing skid marks, and attempting to pin down the precise progression of events that resulted in the fatal incident.
Authorities have reiterated the risks associated with driving at excessively high speeds, especially on exit ramps and at intersections where reaction times may be limited. “Speeding remains a primary factor in fatal accidents on the roads of Minnesota,” stated a spokesperson for the State Patrol.
