With profound sadness, we share the news of the death of John Auriemma, a cherished husband, father, friend, and Verizon worker, who sadly departed from us too early. Hailing from Belleville and a long-time resident of Verona, John spent 21 joyful years married to his high school sweetheart, Janet.
Together, they nurtured two amazing teenage sons, Jaye and Jarrett, who embody his values of perseverance, compassion, and community spirit. John represented kindness and generosity, a person who transformed a neighborhood into a true home. His commitment to his family and community was unparalleled.
He set the bar high for sports parents, providing support that went well beyond his own kids. On basketball courts and football fields throughout the area, his distinctive voice resonated, cheering, inspiring, and uplifting everyone nearby.
John took pride in the accomplishments of others just as passionately as in his own, and his sincere encouragement made a lasting impression on all who encountered him. Whether he was rooting for his wife during softball matches or congratulating athletes after football games, John ensured that each person felt acknowledged, appreciated, and important.
He consistently redirected accolades to others rather than keeping them for himself, demonstrating his humility and selflessness. Even when his sons' football careers concluded, John remained present at every game, eagerly greeting each athlete personally and providing motivation.
His commitment to the achievements of others highlighted his kind spirit and indefatigable heart. John’s friendliness, humor, and commitment made him a beloved figure in Verona and beyond. Knowing John meant experiencing a special kind of love.
