First responders continued efforts to save Bolston’s life after he arrived at the hospital. At approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Milledgeville police confirmed that he had died from injuries sustained in the shooting. He was 19 years old. The incident therefore moved from an overnight emergency response into a fatal criminal investigation, with detectives working to establish what happened before officers arrived and what circumstances led to the gunfire.

Investigators identified Daquavious Napier, 20, as a suspect. Police located Napier several hours after the shooting, early Tuesday morning, and arrested him. He was initially charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, five counts of aggravated assault, participation in street gang activity, terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Those charges reflected the allegations and evidence available to investigators before Bolston’s death was announced.

After police confirmed Bolston’s death, authorities said Napier was additionally charged with malice murder. The charges remain allegations, and Napier is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. An arrest does not establish guilt, and the eventual legal proceedings will determine whether the accusations against him are supported by admissible evidence. That distinction remains important while investigators continue gathering information and authorities consider whether others may have played a role.

The Milledgeville Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional arrests are expected. Authorities have not released further details about what led to the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the alleged involvement of additional suspects. Those unanswered questions remain central to the investigation. No motive has been publicly established. As more evidence is reviewed, investigators may clarify the events that preceded the gunfire. Detectives may continue reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses as they work to establish the sequence of events and determine what happened inside and around the convenience store.

For Bolston’s family, friends and loved ones, the police investigation now unfolds alongside the loss of a young life. The available public information focuses largely on the shooting, emergency response, medical treatment, death and criminal allegations, offering limited detail about Bolston’s life away from the incident. At 19, his death is especially painful for the people who knew him and those grieving his sudden absence.

As Milledgeville awaits further information, Quantez Bolston is remembered by his loved ones while authorities continue working to establish the full circumstances of the shooting. The investigation and court process may provide additional answers about what happened and whether other arrests will follow. Until then, the known facts remain that Bolston suffered an apparent gunshot wound at CC Food Mart, was hospitalized in critical condition, and later died from his injuries. His family and friends now face the difficult work of mourning his loss during a painful period for everyone affected by the shooting and its continuing local criminal investigation.
