As reported by officials, Maria was trying to cross the road at approximately 4:55 a.m. when a tractor-trailer hit her, followed by another vehicle traveling north. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but unfortunately, despite their efforts, Maria was declared deceased at the scene.
