Mina Serrano Obituary Update: Motorist Accused of DUI Following Accident That Claimed the Life of a 22-Year-Old Female in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. — Officials have revealed the identity of the woman who died in a fatal accident in central Fresno early Saturday morning; she was 22-year-old Mina Serrano. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office verified that Serrano was riding as a passenger in the vehicle that crashed into multiple parked vehicles and a large truck trailer on Belmont Avenue, close to Barton Avenue.

As per the Fresno Police Department, 34-year-old Joshua Parker has been taken into custody and booked at the Fresno County Jail facing several charges, which include gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI resulting in injury or death, endangerment of a child, and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

Investigators report that Parker was heading east on Belmont Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, hitting a parked car, a stack of wooden pallets, and a parked large truck trailer. Nearby business surveillance video recorded the shocking collision, displaying how the vehicle almost struck a worker before crashing into the truck.

“If it weren't for one pallet that was left at an angle, the vehicle would have hit him too,” commented Claudia Ibanez, manager at Dulceria’s Mojica. “I was processing a customer's payment when I heard someone shout, ‘watch out!’ Then I witnessed the vehicle collide with everything in its path.”

Ibanez hurried outside and joined others in providing assistance to the victims, among whom was a two-year-old boy covered in broken glass. “The child was covered in glass, crying, and all he said was, ‘the glass broke,’” she recalled.

Serrano was declared dead at the scene. Parker, who survived the incident, allegedly informed witnesses that his tire had burst, causing him to lose control. Authorities are looking into claims of a disturbance within the SUV prior to the crash.

The devastating incident has left family and friends grieving the loss of Mina Serrano, who had her life tragically and needlessly taken away.
