 WEST VALLEY CITY, — The community and those close to her are grieving over the unfortunate passing of Abbie Louise Roderick, 63, from Enoch, Utah, who lost her life due to a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound Bangerter Highway on Sunday evening.



As reported by the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), the incident took place around 8:06 p.m. close to 4100 South and involved at least six cars. Initial details suggest a Hyundai Tucson was driving erratically and at a high speed when it struck six vehicles that were halted at a red light. After the collision, the Hyundai erupted into flames.

A driver from one of the other cars managed to rescue Abbie Roderick, the only person inside the Hyundai, from the fiery wreck. She was taken to a hospital, where she ultimately passed away from her injuries.

The driver of a Toyota Highlander needed to be rescued from their vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. All other individuals in the crash were assessed at the location and then released.

The Utah Highway Patrol is still looking into the factors leading up to this incident. No additional details have been made available at this time.
