Ada Zeidle, AUGUSTA, Kentucky Notice of Passing: George Clooney grieves the loss of his sibling Ada Zeidler Following Fight Against Cancer

 AUGUSTA, Kentucky — Adelia Zeidler, the sister of George Clooney, passed away from cancer on Friday. She was 65 years old.

According to her obituary online, Zeidler, affectionately known as Ada, died “peacefully surrounded by loved ones.”

While Clooney hasn’t publicly addressed her passing, he did provide a statement to PEOPLE.

“My sister, Ada, was my hero,” he expressed. “She confronted cancer with bravery and humor. I’ve never encountered anyone as courageous. Amal and I will deeply miss her.”

As detailed in her obituary, Zeidler served as an elementary art teacher for a long time at Augusta Independent School in Kentucky.

In addition to teaching, she facilitated a local book club, was actively involved with the Augusta Art Guild, and previously served as the grand marshal for Augusta’s Annual White Christmas Parade.

Her obituary states that Zeidler is survived by her parents, Nick and Nina (née Warren) Clooney; her brother, George Clooney; her husband, Kenny; her children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga; and other relatives.
