Afton Robertson Vehicle Collision Rangely, Colorado Fatality, Memorial Announcement: Community Commemorates the Legacy of 2025 Rangely Alumna

 It is with great sadness that we share the news of Afton Robertson's death, a cherished member of the Rangely community and a member of the 2025 graduating class of Rangely Junior/Senior High School. Afton tragically passed away due to a car crash, leaving her loved ones, friends, and the entire community in deep shock and sorrow.

Afton was recognized for her vibrant personality, her contagious smile, and the warmth she offered to everyone she met. She was a friend, a daughter, and a valued classmate, and her departure has left a significant emptiness in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, or enjoying moments with friends, Afton’s authentic character and her gift for making others feel appreciated and loved were apparent in all her endeavors.

While attending Rangely High School, Afton was acknowledged not only for her academic capabilities but also for her zest for life and dedication to her community. She was a young individual with a promising future filled with aspirations that will unfortunately remain unrealized. Nevertheless, during her brief time with us, Afton positively influenced many lives, leaving a legacy full of love, empathy, and a spirit that will always be remembered.

To honor Afton’s life, a vigil is scheduled for Friday, December 26, at 6:00 PM in the Rangely Junior/Senior High Auditorium. The community is encouraged to come together for a period of reflection, sharing stories, and offering support as we cope with this tragic loss. Candles will be supplied, but individuals who prefer to bring their own or flowers for the memorial are more than welcome to do so. This gathering will serve as a moment for healing and solidarity as we celebrate Afton and the life she led.

The Rangely School District, together with the community, expresses its heartfelt sympathies to Afton’s family during this unimaginably challenging time. Professional counselors will be present at the vigil to assist anyone in need of support, and school counselors will be available throughout the week for students and their families.

Afton Robertson’s legacy will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew her. May her spirit provide us solace as we reflect on the happiness she brought into our lives.
