The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that a 2016 Cadillac SUV was going west in the eastbound lane when it collided head-on with a 2010 Ford Focus.

Gloria Martinez Alonso, age 24, was operating the Ford Focus during the accident. She had her 1-year-old daughter, Elisa Martinez, in the backseat. Tragically, both Gloria and Elisa suffered life-threatening injuries and were pronounced dead at the crash site by emergency personnel. Their passing has profoundly impacted the local community, especially considering the incident occurred on Christmas Eve.

A third person in the Ford Focus, a front-seat passenger, survived the collision but sustained serious injuries.
