Joseph Blurton's Passing and Tribute: Joseph Blurton Loses Life in Devastating Three-Vehicle Collision on U.S. Highway 62 in Clay County, Arkansas

Joseph Blurton Death and Obituary – Joseph A. Blurton, aged 34 and a resident of Wardell, Missouri, tragically passed away in a three-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon, December 18, 2025, in the rural area of Clay County, Arkansas. The deadly accident happened on U.S. Highway 62 at the Black River Relief Bridge, leading to an investigation by the Arkansas State Police.

Authorities report that the incident occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. in rainy conditions that made the road wet and potentially perilous. Officials from the state police affirmed that the lowered traction and visibility might have contributed to the event, although the incident is still under official investigation.

Initial reports suggest that Joseph Blurton was heading west in a 2022 Toyota Corolla when his car crossed into the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 62. The Toyota then collided head-on with a 2022 Dodge Charger driven by Leana Stanfill from Paragould, Arkansas. The force of the wreck was significant, leading to extensive damage to both vehicles, which ultimately came to a stop in the middle of the road.

Shortly after the first impact, another vehicle was implicated. A 2013 Nissan Juke, also moving eastbound, ran into the immobilized Toyota Corolla. Officials indicated that the driver of the Nissan was unable to swerve away from the disabled vehicle in time, exacerbating the severity of the accident scene.

Emergency services arrived promptly, but Joseph Blurton had suffered critical injuries and was declared dead at the location of the incident. His passing has profoundly affected his family, friends, and the broader Wardell community, who are now grieving the unexpected loss of a young individual.

Leana Stanfill, the operator of the Dodge Charger, sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Missouri for medical care. Her current condition has not been shared publicly. The driver of the Nissan Juke reportedly did not incur life-threatening injuries, but no further information has been provided by officials.

The Arkansas State Police are actively investigating the crash to uncover factors that may have contributed, such as speed, roadway conditions, and possible driver impairment. No charges have been made as of yet. Traffic on U.S. Highway 62 experienced temporary delays while authorities worked on clearing the debris and documenting the incident.

This heartbreaking event highlights the risks associated with wet roadways and emphasizes the need for vigilance and caution while driving, especially in adverse weather conditions. As the inquiry proceeds, the emphasis remains on delivering answers to grieving families and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
