The search for Kenny Jackson Jr., aged 21, from Acworth, has concluded with sorrow after officials verified that the human remains discovered in rural Oglethorpe County belonged to the missing individual.
Kenny was seen for the final time on November 19 at Brook Run Skate Park located in Dunwoody. His family reported him missing after noticing his absence and the silence of his phone and banking transactions.
The investigation shifted when off-duty law enforcement officers hunting for deer stumbled upon a silver Hyundai Elantra, which was found abandoned deep within a wildlife management region near Maxeys, approximately eight miles from the closest paved road. This vehicle was later confirmed to be Kenny’s.
After a thorough search of the isolated forested area, the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office discovered human remains, which the Georgia Bureau of Investigation subsequently identified as Kenny. The details regarding the cause of his death have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities noted that Kenny's vehicle was last recorded by a license plate reader in Oconee County, around 90 minutes after his departure from the skate park. The events that transpired after his departure are still under investigation.
Kenny is fondly remembered as a gentle and patient individual who had a passion for skateboarding and enjoyed teaching others. His family and the community continue to mourn while officials strive to reveal the circumstances surrounding his death.
