Predator Taranvir Galsinh Sentenced: 11 Years for Atrocious Assault and Sexual Violence Against Two Schoolgirls

 The information that came to light from Teesside Crown Court last week represents incidents that will haunt a community profoundly. Taranvir Galsinh, a 45-year-old from Sunderland, has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for a series of abusive acts that are hard to fathom. His targets were not grown individuals but minors who were merely 12 and 14 years old at the time the crimes were committed. At a stage in life when young girls typically focus on their studies and friendships, these two children fell victim to an adult man who saw their innocence not as something to defend, but rather as something to take advantage of.

The sorrow surrounding this case originates from the extreme vulnerability of the young victims. A 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old adolescent endured a horrifying ordeal involving rape, sexual violence, and grotesque control.

The prosecution presented a troubling series of behaviors that unfolded in places that ought to have been either public and safe or private and secure, yet instead became crime scenes. Galsinh took the 14-year-old to a hotel, where he sexually assaulted and raped her, far from the protective eyes of her family. However, the abuse did not stop in hotel rooms; it extended to his vehicle, which he transformed into a cell for his victims.

The violence escalated further than mere sexual misconduct. In a particularly harrowing moment, Galsinh tried to strangle the 14-year-old girl, enhancing the already present physical dangers of the sexual abuse. For the younger victim, aged only 12, he coerced her into sexual acts within his vehicle, even compensating her in a warped effort to normalize the horrid abuse. The haunting image of a man in his 40s driving young girls to isolated areas for the purpose of illicit acts serves as a stark indication of the threats that can exist openly in society.

Justice Delivered and Lifelong Safeguards

In July, at Durham Crown Court, Galsinh admitted to a range of offenses, including rape, deliberate strangulation, and paying for the sexual services of a minor. Last week, he reappeared at Teesside Crown Court to confront the repercussions. The judge imposed a sentence of 11 years and three months—a substantial duration that guarantees he will remain incarcerated for many years.

Nevertheless, the judicial system acknowledged that incarceration alone is insufficient to protect these young survivors. Galsinh was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and, importantly, lifetime restraining orders against both of the girls. This ensures that even if he is released, he is legally obligated to keep his distance from them for all time. While this ruling brings a legal closure to this episode, the emotional healing for the survivors is only beginning. It is to be hoped that, with their assailant imprisoned and the law providing a barrier between him and them, they may discover the peace and recuperation they so richly merit.
