Stephanie Whitnel, aged 31, was fatally shot at a nightclub in Paducah; her former partner has been taken into custody.

 Stephanie Stacey Whitnel, a 31-year-old who worked as a bartender, was tragically shot and killed at KC’s Bar and Grill in Paducah, Kentucky, in the early hours of December 13, 2025. This tragic event has left the local community in disbelief and has caused sorrow among customers and colleagues alike.




Law enforcement reported that they received a call regarding gunfire at the nightclub located on Park Plaza Drive at approximately 3:14 a.m. Eyewitnesses informed investigators that a man entered the establishment and shot Stephanie several times before escaping the area.

Stephanie was quickly transported to a local hospital, where she was declared dead. Officials confirmed that she was the sole individual injured during this event.

The alleged shooter has been identified as 38-year-old Phillip S. Whitnel, who authorities believe had a previous romantic involvement with the deceased. Based on the evidence gathered at the scene and statements from witnesses, detectives secured a murder warrant.

Later that same day, Illinois State Police apprehended Phillip Whitnel in Franklin County, Illinois, during a routine traffic stop without any difficulties. He is presently being held at the Franklin County Jail, awaiting his extradition to Kentucky.

Phillip Whitnel has been charged with murder in connection with domestic violence. The inquiry is still in progress, and officials indicate that more information may become available as the situation evolves.
