The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed that the agent discharged their weapon in self-defense after Good reportedly tried to use her vehicle in a way that threatened officers involved in the operation. Footage shared on social media captures agents approaching a burgundy SUV, instructing the driver to exit. Shortly thereafter, gunfire erupted, and the vehicle came to a stop after colliding with surrounding objects. Officials stated that Good was taken for medical treatment but succumbed to her injuries.

Friends and supporters portrayed Good as a poet and writer, a wife and mother, and a long-term Colorado resident who was currently residing in Minneapolis. Advocacy organizations claimed she was serving as a legal observer during local activities related to federal enforcement actions, although this assertion has not been verified by authorities.

Civil rights and community groups condemned the shooting and demanded openness and accountability. The American Humanist Association noted that contrasting narratives have emerged and called for a comprehensive, independent evaluation of the incident.
