BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The community in Bethlehem is mourning the loss of two individuals who died from gunfire on Friday night, which authorities are treating as a suspected murder-suicide, as reported by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Emergency services responded to a call at approximately 10:45 p.m. to a residence located in the 200 block of 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, officials discovered the body of 39-year-old Sarah Rice. A 42-year-old man, referred to as Gregory “Greg” by his relatives, was also found with injuries from gunfire. He was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he was declared deceased at 11:39 p.m., according to Coroner Daniel Buglio. Autopsies for both victims are set to be conducted on Monday.
The Bethlehem police are heading the investigation with help from the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the coroner's office. No additional information has been disclosed by authorities as the case is still ongoing.
In light of this tragedy, Sarah Rice’s family issued a statement celebrating her life and inviting the community to come together for a memorial.
“Cherished Sarah Rice has sadly passed away following a devastating event at her residence,” the family expressed. “At the young age of 39, Sarah has left an emptiness that will never be filled.”
A candlelight vigil has been set up to pay tribute to Sarah and provide support to those impacted:

She leaves behind her mother, Lori Rice; her older sister, Janell Rice; and her children—2-year-old Mila Reign, Gianna, Aria, and Aliyah. Her family and friends describe her as loving, strong-willed, and entirely dedicated to her children.
Messages of remembrance have been shared by those who knew her, highlighting the kindness she brought into the lives of others. “Sarah had a unique talent for making others feel appreciated and loved,” shared one friend. “Her devotion to her children was everything—you could see it manifest in all her actions.” Another friend remarked, “She was a strong and kind person who always supported her loved ones.”
The Bethlehem Area School District addressed the incident in a statement, recognizing that some students in the district were affected. “We extend our heartfelt support to them and to everyone impacted during this extremely challenging time,” the district stated, mentioning that they are working to offer proper assistance while maintaining the privacy of the students and families involved.
As the investigation moves forward, it is anticipated that community members will gather at the vigil to honor Sarah Rice, celebrate her life, and provide comfort to one another during this time of immense grief.
