Investigators with the East Earl Township Police Department reported that preliminary findings indicate Randal was traveling north on Sheep Hill Road while operating an electric unicycle when he lost control and entered the intersection, where he was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer. Despite the immediate response from emergency personnel, Randal died from the injuries he sustained. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office determined that the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and ruled the manner of death an accident.

Authorities stated that the tractor-trailer driver remained at the scene and has continued cooperating with investigators throughout the review. No additional injuries were reported as a result of the collision. The roadway experienced temporary traffic delays while emergency crews documented evidence, completed their on-scene investigation, and safely reopened the area to the public.
