Anthony Lopez Wanted in South River Investigation as Police Ask Potential Witnesses to Come Forward

 The South River, New Jersey, Police Department is seeking assistance from the public as investigators continue examining several alleged public exposure incidents reported during early July. According to police, multiple complaints were received between July 2 and July 7, 2026, involving a man who allegedly exposed himself to members of the public in different areas of South River. The investigation has resulted in criminal charges against a 21-year-old New York man, while authorities continue working to determine whether additional people may have relevant information.

Police said most of the reported incidents occurred near Whitehead Avenue, including areas around Magiera Street, Spring Street, and Jeffrie Avenue. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage supplied by local residents as part of their efforts to identify the individual connected to the complaints. Detective Travis Taylor led the investigation with assistance from Detective Jonathan Torres, while members of the Patrol Division also contributed to the case.

Through the investigation and coordination with the New York City Police Department, authorities identified the person they believe is connected to the reported incidents as Anthony Lopez, 21. South River police said Lopez had been visiting the community during the period covered by the complaints and may now be residing in New York City. The department has issued an active arrest warrant as investigators continue attempting to locate him.

According to the South River Police Department, Lopez has been charged with five counts of lewdness. The charges represent allegations rather than a finding of guilt, and Lopez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Authorities have not indicated that the charges establish responsibility for any additional incidents beyond those included in the investigation.

Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have experienced a similar situation or witnessed something relevant during the period under investigation. Investigators believe there could be additional individuals who have not yet contacted authorities. Information from potential witnesses or victims could help police determine whether other incidents may be connected to the same investigation and assist in establishing a more complete timeline.
