Matthew Wayne Norden Remembered in Hollow Rock for His Devotion to His Children and the People He Loved

 Matthew Wayne Norden, a 35-year-old resident of Hollow Rock, Tennessee, is being remembered by family, friends, and neighbors for the love he showed his children and the relationships he built throughout his life. Born April 21, 1991, in McKenzie, Matthew remained closely connected to the Carroll County community. His passing following a vehicle collision on Vale McKenzie Road has left those who knew him facing difficult days while holding tightly to memories of his personality, family devotion, and everyday presence.

According to preliminary findings from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the collision occurred Monday evening, August 3, while Matthew was traveling west on Vale McKenzie Road in a 2024 Nissan Frontier. Investigators said the pickup left the roadway, entered a ditch, and struck a tree. The circumstances that led the vehicle to leave the road remained under investigation at the time of the initial findings. Matthew was pronounced deceased at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.

Several emergency agencies responded, including the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Rescue Squad, Carroll County Fire Department, Baptist EMS, and Tennessee Highway Patrol personnel. Their response reflected the coordinated effort required when communities face serious roadway emergencies. Behind every official response, however, is a family waiting for news and a community that must eventually confront the personal reality of someone not returning home. For Matthew’s loved ones, that reality has been especially difficult.

Family remained one of the strongest parts of Matthew’s identity. He was the son of Richard Norden and Tammy Brown Jones and the brother of Richard Adam Norden. Most importantly, he was a father to John Wayne Norden and Zowey Renee Norden, the children he cherished deeply. Those who knew him understood how important his children were to him. Visitation is scheduled to begin at noon, followed by the service at 2 p.m., with Bro. Paul Hollingsworth officiating. The gathering will give relatives, friends, and community members an opportunity to come together, share memories, offer support, and reflect on the life Matthew built during his 35 years.
