Eric D. “Irv” Battaglia, a beloved member of the Burlington, New Jersey, community, died on August 16, 2026, at the age of 41. His sudden passing has left his family, longtime partner, friends, former teammates, coworkers, and neighbors mourning a man remembered for his humor, loyalty, generosity, and unmistakable personality. For those closest to him, his memory is defined by far more than the circumstances of his unexpected death.
Eric was the beloved son of Leon and Cindi Battaglia and a cherished brother to Ed, Leon, and Bryan. He was also a devoted uncle to Jack E., Kace R., Kaylee, and Brooke. His longtime partner, Lindsey Lovenduski, shared 11 years of life and memories with him. The relationships he built with those around him formed an important part of the life he leaves behind.
A proud graduate of Holy Cross High School’s Class of 2003, Irv carried special memories from his years as a student-athlete. He was a member of the school’s 2001 State Championship football team, an accomplishment that remained a source of pride throughout his life. With the playful confidence familiar to his family, he enjoyed reminding his brothers that he was the only state champion among them.
After high school, Irv established himself professionally as a union ironworker with Local 68. His work reflected qualities that friends and family also recognized in his personal life: determination, loyalty, and a strong appreciation for the people around him. The friendships and connections he formed through his profession became another meaningful part of his story.
Family, however, remained at the heart of Irv’s life. He especially treasured Sunday gravy at his parents’ home, where time together created the kind of ordinary moments that often become the most precious memories after someone is gone. His role as “Uncle Eric” was equally important, with his nieces and nephews holding a special place in his heart. Jeep rides with the doors off became cherished adventures they will remember for years to come.
Friends and loved ones will remember Irv for the laughter he brought into a room, his generosity, his loyalty, and the personality that made him impossible to forget. His life was reflected in countless shared experiences—from family gatherings and football memories to friendships formed through work and everyday moments with the people he cared about. Those memories now offer a lasting connection for everyone facing his absence.
Family and friends will gather to honor Eric at a funeral Mass on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Burlington, New Jersey, with guests asked to arrive by 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the St. Paul’s Church General Fund. Eric D. “Irv” Battaglia’s legacy will remain in the family he loved, the friendships he valued, and the many memories that continue to bring his personality to life.
