Curtis Warren, 25, of Cornelius, North Carolina, died Friday night after a motorcycle crash in Iredell County, leaving family and friends to mourn a young life cut short. The collision happened about 8:24 p.m. October 2 at the intersection of Sullivan Farm Road and Red Cedar Lane, just north of Statesville. Warren was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Sullivan Farm Road when the crash occurred, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a Hyundai was attempting to turn left from Red Cedar Lane onto Sullivan Farm Road when it collided with Warren’s motorcycle. The impact caused fatal injuries to Warren, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as 18-year-old Addison Oxendine of Statesville. Oxendine was not injured. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation as authorities work to establish the sequence of events.
The crash has left a lasting loss for those who knew Warren in Cornelius and beyond. At 25, his death represents the sudden end of a life that family, friends and others had known and valued. The available account does not provide additional details about Warren’s work, interests, relationships or plans, making it important to keep the remembrance grounded in what has been confirmed. What is clear is that his passing has brought grief to those who cared about him and shared in the moments that shaped his life. Friends and relatives are now left to carry those memories forward in his community.
Motorcycle crashes can produce devastating consequences because riders have far less physical protection than occupants inside passenger vehicles. Still, the specific factors that contributed to this collision have not been determined publicly. Investigators must examine the roadway, vehicle movements and other available evidence before reaching conclusions about what happened. In Warren’s case, the Highway Patrol has not announced a final finding, and the investigation remains active.
Authorities said the completed investigation will be submitted to the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office for review. That step is part of the process for determining whether the evidence supports any further enforcement action. As of the latest report, no charges had been filed against Oxendine, and officials had not announced whether additional action would follow the prosecutor’s review. Those details remain subject to the continuing investigation and should not be treated as a final determination of responsibility.
For Warren’s family and friends, however, the loss is more immediate than the unanswered questions surrounding the crash. A fatal collision can leave loved ones facing grief while investigators continue their work. The circumstances of Warren’s death may become clearer as the Highway Patrol completes its report, but the human impact is already present in the absence left behind by someone who was only 25 years old.
Curtis Warren is now remembered after a Friday night crash that ended his life on a roadway north of Statesville. His death has brought sorrow to Cornelius and to those who knew him, while the official investigation continues to examine how the collision occurred. Until that work is completed, the facts remain limited to what authorities have released. For those mourning Warren, his memory stands apart from the investigation: he was a young man whose life ended suddenly, leaving people who cared for him to grieve and remember him.
