A 25-year-old individual from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was apprehended following his alleged involvement in the murder of two men within a home. He later informed law enforcement that a cockroach had commanded him to commit the acts. This disturbing event transpired when deputies arrived due to reports of gunfire, discovering two adult victims who bore both gunshot and stab injuries, while three other adults and two youngsters were also located within the residence.
The accused, Alexis Hernandez, recounted a series of bizarre and delusional occurrences that he purportedly experienced leading up to the murders. He conveyed to the police that he thought the homeowner had been tracking him and had placed hidden cameras throughout the premises. Hernandez asserted that these actions intensified his paranoia. He also detailed receiving “an encrypted message within a cockroach,” which supposedly directed him to murder the property owner, accompanied by signs and auditory hallucinations that further convinced him that the violence was warranted.

During his discussions with law enforcement, Hernandez expressed that he was “scared for his safety” and considered the two victims to be a danger to him.
He confessed to shooting one individual in the head and targeting the other in the kitchen, then reloading his firearm and shooting both victims once more. Hernandez recognized that the children present in the residence had witnessed the events but insisted he did not plan to hurt them.
Hernandez now faces two murder charges. A judge has mandated that he remains detained, pointing to the violent characteristics of the offense and the unsettling information revealed throughout the investigation. Officials are continuing to evaluate the suspect’s mental health as they review the traumatic incident.
