Augusta Resident, Heavaughn Leigene Brooks Passes Away Following Gunshot Incident on 10th Street

 A 24-year-old man from Augusta lost his life early Saturday morning following a shooting incident on the 1300 block of 10th Street, as reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the scene after receiving calls about gunfire and an injured individual at around 10:55 p.m. on November 21. Once there, law enforcement officials secured the area and initiated their inquiry.

The deceased has been recognized as Heavaughn Leigene Brooks, a resident of the 2500 block of Porter Street in Augusta.

Officials indicated that Brooks sustained at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital by a private vehicle prior to the arrival of deputies. Despite attempts to save his life, Brooks was declared dead at 1:59 a.m. on November 22.

The investigation has been classified as a homicide case, and inquiries are still in progress. No further information has been disclosed at this moment.
