CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY — The community of Hopkinsville is mourning the heartbreaking death of Brandon Higgins, aged 40, who passed away on Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle belonging to the sheriff’s department on Madisonville Road close to Mount Zoar–Latham Road.

As reported by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were attending to another incident when they were alerted about a man resembling Higgins by the roadside. Investigators indicate that Brandon was near a guardrail before unexpectedly entering the path of an oncoming patrol car. Despite efforts by the deputy to prevent the incident, a crash took place. Emergency personnel rushed to assist, but tragically, Brandon succumbed to his injuries.
The inquiry is being undertaken by the Kentucky State Police, following the protocol for incidents involving law enforcement. The deputy who was involved remained uninjured and is fully cooperating with the investigation as authorities examine evidence and footage from body cameras.
