LEWES, Del. — The town is grieving the untimely passing of Charlene Broccolo, 62, and Albert Broccolo, 64, from Bel Air, Maryland, who tragically lost their lives in a five-vehicle accident on Coastal Highway in Lewes on Friday, November 7, 2025.
As per the Delaware State Police, the incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m. when a Peterbilt dump truck failed to reduce speed for slowing traffic in the right lane, colliding with the back of a Ford Edge. This collision triggered a series of events involving a Nissan Altima, a BMW X2, and a BMW 135. Charlene Broccolo was taken to a local hospital but, sadly, did not survive her injuries, while Albert Broccolo, who was riding in the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene.
Friends, family, and the local community fondly remember Charlene and Albert as warm-hearted, caring, and devoted individuals whose existence brought happiness and comfort to all who knew them. They were valued not merely as relatives but also as friends whose joy, compassion, and kindness made a significant impression.
The accident has created a deep sense of loss among all who were acquainted with them, and the community continues to extend their support, thoughts, and sympathies to the Broccolo family during this incredibly difficult period.
Though they left us far too early, the legacy of Charlene and Albert Broccolo will endure in the love they shared, the people they inspired, and the comfort they provided to everyone they encountered.
