Daniel Lee Maddox Obituary Announcement: Investigators Looking into Deadly Accident in Lowndes County

 LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss — A fatal accident that resulted in the death of 32-year-old Daniel Lee Maddox is currently being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol along with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place on Thursday evening.




Greg Merchant, the coroner for Lowndes County, stated that the incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Highway 69 South, slightly north of where it intersects with Hughes Road. Maddox was driving northbound on Highway 69 when it is reported that he lost control of his car, leading to a collision with a Nissan SUV traveling south.

First responders promptly arrived at the location, but in spite of their efforts, Maddox was declared deceased at the scene due to his injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Authorities closed the road temporarily while teams conducted an investigation into the accident and cleared the scene of debris. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing as officials seek to uncover the factors that contributed to the loss of control of the vehicle.

The unexpected death of Daniel Maddox has resulted in shock and grief among family, friends, and the community. Those who knew him describe him as a diligent and compassionate individual who was cherished by everyone around him.
