BESSEMER, Ala — An inquiry is being conducted into the unexpected passing of 24-year-old D'Koleman Juvan Harris, who was found non-responsive in his cell at the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer early on Sunday morning.
As reported by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Harris was located at approximately 8:15 a.m., and even though correctional staff and medical team promptly attempted to save him, he was declared dead within a few minutes.
Officials have announced that an autopsy is scheduled for Monday to ascertain the cause and manner of his death. The coroner indicated that initial observations revealed no apparent signs of injury, yet a comprehensive examination is expected to shed more light on the situation.
