WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa — Officials have disclosed the identities of the two individuals who sadly perished in a catastrophic head-on collision on Friday evening, November 7, 2025, along Interstate 70 close to the Claysville exit.
As per the information provided by the Pennsylvania State Police, the individuals involved have been named as 59-year-old Donna Havens from Wheeling, West Virginia, and 69-year-old William Magers from Glen Dale, West Virginia.
The deadly accident took place shortly after 5 p.m., when an eastward traveling Hyundai sedan veered across the grassy median and collided frontally with a Ford SUV in the westbound lanes near mile marker 5. Both drivers, Havens and Magers, were declared deceased at the site despite the rapid response from emergency services.
A female occupant of the Ford SUV was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries that were life-threatening, while a young passenger sitting in the back remarkably remained unharmed.
Before the incident, law enforcement had received several calls about a vehicle traveling erratically in the eastbound direction on I-70. Investigators are currently exploring if it was the same vehicle that was involved in this incident.
The collision led to a complete shutdown of both lanes of Interstate 70 for several hours while emergency teams, state troopers, and reconstruction crews managed the aftermath of the crash. The highway was subsequently reopened that same night.
State police are actively probing the reasons behind the crash, receiving assistance from collision reconstruction experts and forensic teams. They are examining possible contributing elements such as speed, road conditions, and visibility during the occurrence.
This devastating incident has significantly impacted the communities of Wheeling and Glen Dale, as family members and friends grieve the unexpected and sorrowful loss of Donna Havens and William Magers — two individuals taken from life far too early.
