The community of Butler, Indiana is mourning the sudden and sorrowful loss of Ethan Michael Fike, aged 19, who passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Ethan was born on October 5, 2006, in Fort Wayne, and was the cherished son of Shane and Amanda (Maberson) Fike.
A senior at Garrett High School and previously attending Eastside High School, Ethan was more than an ordinary student; he was a beacon of encouragement and positivity to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ethan possessed a remarkable gift for forming connections. His influence in the classroom, gym, and community created lasting impressions on those he encountered. Recognized for his empathy, loyalty, and quiet resilience, he cultivated friendships that resembled familial ties. He truly represented camaraderie, ensuring everyone felt appreciated and acknowledged.
Faith was a significant aspect of Ethan’s existence. He was baptized and regularly attended Corunna United Brethren in Christ Church, where his kindness and genuine concern for others were widely respected.
In addition to his faith and friendships, Ethan had a fervor for boxing, wrestling, and fitness, which showcased his commitment to consistently elevate himself. His enthusiasm for sports was not solely competitive; it embodied discipline, persistence, and self-betterment.
As a skilled wrestler, Ethan exhibited passion and integrity in his competitions. His concentration and fierce resolve established him as a strong athlete, yet he consistently maintained his humility and respect. Regardless of the outcome, he was renowned for his sportsmanship and dignity. Friends remember his sharp humor, infectious laughter, and his ability to uplift others, even in challenging situations.
Ethan had a profound love for his family and friends. His commitment to his loved ones was steadfast, drawing strength from the pride he felt regarding his identity and beliefs. He was ambitious, stable, and inspired by purpose — a young individual who embraced life with bravery, faith, and passion.
Ethan is survived by his father, Shane Fike of Butler; his sisters, Athena (fiancé Brady Long) Fike and Addison Fike, both from Butler; paternal grandparents, Donald (Brenda) Fike and Theresa Shisler; maternal grandparents, David and Patricia Maberson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his adored mother, Amanda Fike, who died on October 10, 2021.
Visitation for Ethan is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at County Line Church of God, located at 7716 North County Line Road E, Auburn. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Gabe Pranger. He will be laid to rest at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
Ethan's family asks that memorial donations be made to assist with costs. His legacy will always be treasured by all who had the honor of knowing him — a fighter, a companion, and a source of love and strength. Rest in peace, Ethan.
