In Cherished Remembrance of David Lewis Dickson A Life Commemorated Following a Heartbreaking Day in Oconee County

In Loving Memory of David Lewis Dickson A Life Remembered After a Tragic Afternoon in Oconee County

The serene Saturday afternoon in Oconee County was disrupted by a tragic event when a collision between two vehicles resulted in the death of 68-year-old David Lewis Dickson, who had been a lifelong resident of Westminster, South Carolina. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by the Oconee County Coroner’s Office following a call received by Oconee 911 Communications at approximately 12:45 p.m. reporting a severe accident at the intersection of US 76/Long Creek Highway and Coffee Road—located just west of the area David had long regarded as home.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the two vehicles involved were a 1990 Chevrolet pickup and a 2015 Ford pickup truck, both moving eastbound on US 76. As David, operating the Chevrolet, began to reduce his speed to turn onto Coffee Road, the Ford collided with him from behind. The impact occurred in an instant but resulted in tragic outcomes. Emergency personnel arrived promptly, and David was taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to blunt force traumatic injuries at 1:37 p.m. The Ford’s driver escaped uninjured from the incident.

The coroner determined the cause of death to be accidental, a poignant reminder of how swiftly life can alter on the roads we navigate daily.
