In Cherished Remembrance of Jeremy Mitchell A Life Tragically Ended on Sussex Highway

DELMAR, Del. — The community of Delmar is mourning the unexpected and devastating loss of 30-year-old Jeremy Mitchell from Georgetown, Delaware, who sadly died in a single-vehicle accident on the night of November 13. What started as a routine drive on Sussex Highway resulted in a tragic event that has left family, friends, and the entire community grieving.

As reported by the Delaware State Police, the incident took place around 5:12 p.m. when Jeremy was traveling north on Sussex Highway in a GMC Sierra, en route to West Snake Road. For reasons that are still being investigated, the vehicle veered off the west side of the northbound lanes. It passed through the grassy median, entered the southbound lanes, and eventually left the roadway, crashing into a tree. The collision was severe, and despite immediate assistance, Jeremy was sadly declared dead at the scene.

The accident required authorities to close a section of Sussex Highway for about four hours while investigators carefully worked to document the site, collect evidence, and reconstruct the events leading up to the tragic crash. The Collision Reconstruction Unit of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 is actively looking into the situation, aiming to provide clarity and answers to Jeremy’s grieving family. The DSP is urging anyone who may have observed the accident or possesses relevant details to reach out to Sergeant A. Mitchell at 302-703-3269.

While investigators seek answers, those who knew Jeremy are left to cherish the memories of a life taken away too soon.
