James Welch Obituary Announcement: Cherished Director of Athletics, Coach, and Guide at Peck Community

 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. James Welch, a cherished Athletic Director, coach, and mentor at Peck Community Schools, who unexpectedly passed away on November 6, 2025, due to a medical emergency. We grieve deeply as we reflect on the loss of an exceptional leader whose commitment and compassion influenced the lives of many students, faculty, and community members.

Mr. Welch was not merely an administrator—he served as a mentor, a paternal figure, and a guiding light for numerous student-athletes across generations. His dedication to excellence, teamwork, and personal growth extended far beyond the sports arena, creating a significant legacy for everyone fortunate enough to know him. He led with honesty, empathy, and steadfast commitment, consistently prioritizing the welfare of students.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his devoted family—his wife Shane, his son Grady, and all those who cared for him—during this incredibly challenging time. In honor of his memory and to help students cope with this loss, classes will be canceled on November 7, 2025, and support staff will be available from 9 a.m. to noon to provide guidance or counseling for any student in need. Families are invited to contact the high school office for further assistance.

The whole Sandusky Wolves family stands in unity with Peck Community Schools in mourning, extending our compassion, support, and solidarity during this sorrowful period. Mr. Welch’s legacy of guidance, mentorship, and commitment to his students will always be remembered.
