CHICAGO, Ill. — Family members, friends, and the local community are deeply saddened as they mourn the heartbreaking passing of 15-year-old John Thomas, who was tragically shot and killed on Halloween night, October 31, 2025, in the University Village area of Chicago.
Chicago police report that John was biking on the 1300 block of West Grenshaw Street when an occupant of a vehicle driving by started shooting, hitting him several times. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but despite all medical efforts, John unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
What was meant to be an evening filled with fun, costumes, and treats transformed into a heartbreaking incident that has left th e whole community in sorrow. A memorial composed of flowers, balloons, and candles now marks the spot where this young teen's life was tragically ended, serving as a painful reminder of the brevity and value of life.
