Kourtney Khan Obituary Update: 20-Year-Old Kourtney Khan Passes Away in a Heartbreaking Accident

Brampton, Ontario – The community of Brampton is deeply grieving the tragic passing of 20-year-old Kourtney Khan, whose life was abruptly ended in a horrific accident early Saturday morning. Officials from Peel Region confirmed that Kourtney's remains were found later inside a destroyed car at a towing facility, following a fatal collision involving two vehicles near Queen Street and Chinguacousy Road in Brampton.

The accident took place at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, and involved a Honda Civic and another car operated by a 17-year-old. When emergency responders arrived, they discovered that the driver of the Honda Civic, 31-year-old Sukhdev Singh, was found dead at the scene. Singh was a loving husband and the father of a young girl, and he had been working as a Lyft driver that evening. Initially, authorities thought he was the only casualty.

Later on, Kourtney’s family contacted the police to report her missing after they could not get in touch with her. Utilizing a phone tracking application, they determined her last recorded location was at the site of the accident. When police returned to the towing yard, they made the heart-wrenching discovery — Kourtney's remains were located still inside the crumpled back seat of the Honda Civic, over 12 hours after the crash.

Rescue teams returned to the accident site to gently extricate her body from the wrecked vehicle. Peel Regional Police have commenced an internal assessment to understand how Kourtney's remains were overlooked during the initial investigation.

The 17-year-old driver has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving resulting in death and noncompliance with a request for testing. Their identity is protected in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The losses of Kourtney and Sukhdev have created an immense gap in the lives of their families and friends. Kourtney was remembered as a warm-hearted and bright young woman brimming with potential. Her friends described her as loving, compassionate, and filled with joy — a person who illuminated the lives of those around her.

A representative from Lyft expressed sympathy to both families in mourning, saying, “We are profoundly heartbroken by this tragic event. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of both the driver and rider.”

As investigations progress, the community is left in a state of grief, disbelief, and confusion regarding how such a significant oversight could occur.
