Liv Reed Accident—The town of Sunderland is grieving the tragic passing of 17-year-old Liv Reed, who lost her life in a severe accident on the A19 late on the evening of Monday, November 24. Reed, cherished by her community in Sunderland, was confirmed by Northumbria Police as the individual involved in a catastrophic crash that took place just after 11 p.m. between Seaham and the Herrington Interchange.
Authorities report that Reed was likely riding as a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa operated by a 19-year-old male. The police indicated that the car departed from the northbound lane for reasons that are still being determined. Subsequently, the vehicle collided and ignited, with firefighters promptly extinguishing the flames. Despite the quick response and attempts to assist her, Reed was declared deceased at the location of the incident. The driver was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in critical condition, where he is presently undergoing crucial medical treatment. The families of both the deceased and the injured driver have been informed.
Sgt. John Sanderson from Northumbria Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit conveyed his sympathies to Reed’s family while encouraging any potential witnesses to come forward. “First and foremost, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the young person who has sadly lost their life,” Sanderson stated. “An extensive investigation into the factors leading to the crash is currently taking place… I urge anyone with information—especially those with dashcam footage—to reach out to us, as we seek to piece together a full understanding of the incident that occurred last night.”
The North East Ambulance Service sent a robust response team, which included two ambulance units, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader, a duty officer, a HART unit, and a physician from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the dispatch of two fire engines from Farringdon Community Fire Station. Firefighters managed to put out the blaze in the vehicle and collaborated with paramedics to deliver emergency medical assistance before departing the site shortly after 12:10 a.m.
The loss has profoundly impacted Reed’s relatives, friends, and workplace. Reed’s mother shared an emotional tribute to her daughter, depicting her as a lively young woman whose spirit brought joy to everyone around her.
“Early this morning, I lost my beautiful darling daughter, Olivia,” she wrote. “My heart is shattered into countless pieces… You made an incredible impact in your 17 years on this planet. Every breath I take is in your honor. I love you more than you could ever know.”
Reed was employed as a waitress at Tarantinos Restaurant in Sunderland, where coworkers remembered her as unforgettable. In a moving tribute, the restaurant stated: “Anyone who encountered her will immediately recall her — funny, sassy, spirited, and full of the joyous energy that brightened our little restaurant.”
The team requested understanding as they mourn, concluding their tribute with: “Rest peacefully, lovely girl. Forever beautiful—forever 17.”
