A student from Morehouse College faces charges following a troubling event, captured on footage, which seems to show him attacking a student from Clark Atlanta University. This episode took place the previous week on a Georgia State University bus, where a woman claimed that a man had trampled on her foot. Upon confronting him about the situation, she asserts that the man’s girlfriend, who is a student at Clark Atlanta University, pushed her as a reaction.
The confrontation quickly intensified, with the individual later recognized as Matthew Gonzales Forestine participating. According to the woman’s description, Forestine then allegedly lifted her by placing his arm around her neck, spinning her around. A recording of this aggressive encounter has since circulated widely, causing significant public anger.
SUPPORT THE FAMILY - GOD BLESS YOU
In a public letter, Dr. F. DuBois Bowman, President of Morehouse College, addressed the incident, stating that individuals associated with Morehouse are expected to represent the ideals of kindness and ethical conduct. He highlighted the necessity of adhering to these values both within the campus and beyond, although he refrained from discussing Forestine’s position at the college due to concerns pertaining to privacy. “The College indeed expects its members to continuously reflect Morehouse’s principles,” Bowman noted.
President George T. French Jr. of Clark Atlanta University also denounced the event, labeling it a “repulsive demonstration of aggression.” French emphasized that any form of violence, particularly against women, is intolerable and contradicts the principles promoted by their institution. “It is imperative to articulate our stance: violence, in any form, is contrary to and disruptive for our societal norms,” French stated.
Matthew Gonzales Forestine has been taken into custody and is presently being held at the Fulton County Jail facing accusations of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats. The inquiry is still active, and both institutions have indicated their dedication to responding appropriately to the situation and ensuring their students' safety.
