 RICHFIELD SPRINGS, N.Y. — Authorities from the New York State Police have revealed the identity of an individual involved in a fatal accident found on Tuesday morning in Otsego County. Officials report that 39-year-old Rachel Galesky, residing in Richfield Springs, was discovered deceased inside a car that had sunk in a pond located near where U.S. Route 20 meets Skinner Road.

As per State Police, officers were sent to the location around 9:30 a.m. on November 4 after a bystander spotted a vehicle partially out of the water and alerted emergency services. Upon their arrival, law enforcement found a Mitsubishi Mirage submerged in the pond and located Galesky within. She was declared dead at the site.

Initial findings suggest that Galesky was driving on Cole Hill Road during the night when she apparently neglected to stop at a stop sign at the Route 20 intersection, leading her vehicle off the road and into the pond.

The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team, along with Richfield Fire and EMS, and the Coroner's Office of Otsego County, provided assistance as officials worked to retrieve the vehicle and examine the events surrounding the accident.

The State Police have indicated that the investigation is still active to ascertain the precise reasons for the occurrence.
