Clarion, Pennsylvania — The authorities have revealed that the woman discovered deceased in a Clarion Borough apartment on Wednesday is 45-year-old Rachel Roman from DuBois, as stated by Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker.
Shingledecker confirmed the identification of Roman on Friday morning, mentioning that her relatives have been informed by his office and the Pennsylvania State Police in DuBois. The unfortunate finding occurred on Wednesday morning at an apartment situated at 308 Main Street in Clarion.
An autopsy was planned for today at 10:00 a.m. in Erie, with a deputy coroner present. However, Shingledecker pointed out that further information will not be disclosed immediately while the investigation is ongoing.
"I’m unable to provide any details today," Shingledecker stated. "It will likely take a few days."
Currently, there are no charges filed that are directly related to Roman's death.
As mentioned earlier, Chase Wayne Steigerwald, a 34-year-old resident of the apartment where Roman was discovered, was detained at the site for allegedly supplying methamphetamine to another woman at his apartment on Tuesday night. Steigerwald is currently held in the Clarion County Jail with a bail set at $100,000.
Clarion Borough Police Chief Bill Peck highlighted that the investigation is still active and in progress, with authorities continuing to collect evidence.
"We will pursue the evidence and take the necessary actions," Peck remarked, stating that no further specifics could be shared at this moment to maintain the investigation's integrity.
The case is under the joint investigation of the Clarion Borough Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C.
This story is still developing.
