 Spencer, Iowa — A tragic vehicular incident occurred near Spencer on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of 35-year-old Ryan Cundiff from Spencer and injuries to two others, including a small child.




As reported by the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 7:23 a.m. on County Road B24. Cundiff was operating a Chevrolet Traverse heading west when his vehicle veered over the center line, resulting in a frontal collision with an eastbound GMC Acadia.

Ryan Cundiff was declared dead at the site of the accident. A 5-year-old child from Spencer, who was a passenger in Cundiff’s automobile, along with the driver of the Acadia, a resident from Hartley, were taken to a nearby medical facility due to their injuries. Officials have not provided any updates about the condition of those who were hurt.

Investigators indicated that Cundiff was not using a seatbelt during the event, and the reasons behind the accident are still being looked into. The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to analyze the area to identify any factors and conditions that may have contributed.
