OPELOUSAS, La. — The community of Opelousas is expressing its deep sorrow over the tragic death of Sonya Davis, aged 52, who lost her life in a collision involving two vehicles on Wednesday, November 5, in St. Landry Parish.
According to a report from Louisiana State Police Troop I, officers were dispatched to Highway 754 close to Jessie Richard Road at approximately 7 a.m. It was reported that, for reasons that are still being investigated, Davis's vehicle veered into the opposite lane and struck a Ford F-150 head-on. Davis, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was confirmed dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for care. Officers are continuing their investigation, which includes gathering toxicology samples.
