Camila Mendoza Olmos Obituary Death News: Remains Discovered While Searching for 19-Year-Old Camil

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas (Gray News) — Officials in Texas have confirmed that a body was located on Tuesday evening amid the active search for Camila Mendoza Olmos, a 19-year-old woman who has been unaccounted for since Christmas Eve.

Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County provided a case update, indicating that it is premature to ascertain if the found body belongs to Olmos. This finding occurred when a collaborative team from the FBI and Bexar County Sheriff's Office returned to a previously searched grassy location.

The last known sighting of Camila Olmos was around 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve morning in Bexar County, close to her residence and beside her vehicle. Authorities had previously mentioned that a dashcam video, supplied by a neighbor, could potentially show Olmos in the vicinity at the time she went missing. The neighbor reported encountering an individual thought to be Olmos while traveling to work that morning.

From the outset of the investigation, authorities have indicated that there were concerns about Olmos being in immediate danger, which resulted in the issuance of a Clear Alert.

According to Sheriff Salazar, “The criteria for a Clear Alert is imminent danger.” He clarified that imminent danger can include anything from potential self-harm to the possibility of someone abducting Camila, and all such scenarios remain under consideration.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has carried out numerous searches employing ground teams, drones, and cadaver dogs. Additionally, local community members have assisted in the search effort by distributing flyers about the missing person over the past weekend. The Department of Homeland Security has also become involved in the search operations.

Camila’s mother, Rosario Olmos, expressed that she initially thought her daughter was merely taking a walk, but quickly started to feel that something was off.

“I called her phone, but it was left on the bed and was turned off,” Rosario Olmos recounted. “I plugged it in to charge and went out searching for her. I believed I would find her as I had on other occasions, taking a stroll, and we could return home together.”

Rosario mentioned it was entirely unusual for her daughter to vanish without notifying anyone.

Sheriff Salazar stated that investigators are keeping all options open, including kidnapping or human trafficking scenarios, while also considering the possibility that Olmos might have left voluntarily.

“At this point in the investigation, nothing can be discounted,” Salazar remarked, adding that investigators are working tirelessly. He conveyed a message for Olmos, expressing that her family and friends care deeply for her and hope for her safe return.

Camila Olmos was last observed wearing a baby blue and black hoodie, baby blue pajama pants, and white footwear. Officials report she had her car key on her and possibly had her driver’s license in her possession.
