BRONX, N.Y. — On Saturday evening, a 15-year-old student from Crosby High School in Waterbury, Connecticut lost his life, and another boy, aged 14, sustained injuries during a shooting incident inside an NYCHA building in the Bronx.
According to police, the event took place around 6:25 p.m. on December 27, 2025, at 1219 Adee Avenue, located in the 49th Precinct. Responding to a 911 report of gunfire, officers discovered Eric Aitken, 15, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Additionally, they found a 14-year-old boy who had a gunshot wound to his left arm.
Emergency Medical Services transported Eric Aitken in critical condition to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was subsequently declared dead. The 14-year-old was also conveyed to the same hospital by police in a marked vehicle and was reported to be in stable condition.
No one has been apprehended, and the inquiry is still underway. Officials are requesting that anyone with information concerning the shooting reach out to the 49th Precinct.
The tragedy has left both the Bronx community and the Crosby High School community in sorrow, grieving the young life lost and seeking justice as the investigation continues.
