FLORENCE, S.C. — Officials have named Deeric Mario Richardson, aged 33, from Marion, as the individual fatally shot on Monday morning in a Florence apartment complex.
Coroner Keith von Lutcken has verified that Richardson passed away at the location of the incident. An autopsy has been arranged for Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police have apprehended Terry Clark, 21, from Johnsonville, in relation to the shooting incident. He faces charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Following the occurrence, Clark was detained at a residence in proximity to the scene. He is being held in custody without bail at the Florence County Detention Center.
Authorities mentioned that the shooting took place approximately at 11:15 a.m. at the Oaks at Florence apartments, which are situated in the 300 block of Royal Street. Police characterized the event as a “targeted” incident, indicating it was preceded by a dispute between Clark and Richardson. Officials reported that Clark confronted Richardson inside the apartment and shot him, leading to Richardson being declared dead at the scene.
Currently, no additional information regarding the investigation has been disclosed as law enforcement continues their inquiries.
