JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — The local community is grieving the unfortunate and premature passing of Edgar Ivan Solis from Lexington, Kentucky, who tragically died on Monday evening in a devastating pedestrian accident on U.S. 17 close to Evergreen Drive.
As reported by the Jacksonville Police Department, officers arrived at the location around 9:40 p.m. on Monday, December 29, following notifications about a car accident. Upon their arrival, they found Mr. Solis lying in the street. He was declared dead at the site.
Authorities found that Mr. Solis was in the process of crossing U.S. 17 when he was first hit by a vehicle that remained at the scene. Before emergency responders could intervene, he was unfortunately struck by two more vehicles. Officials identified the vehicle as a small red SUV last spotted heading southward on U.S. 17 towards Onslow Drive.
Mr. Solis’ family has been informed of his death, which has created a wave of sorrow both in Jacksonville and in his original town of Lexington. He is cherished as a life extinguished far too early, leaving behind relatives, friends, and loved ones who are now grappling with this unforeseen and heart-wrenching loss.
