Joan Drobnis Massachusetts Obituary, Cherished Feehan Spanish Educator and Guide Has Unexpectedly Departed

 It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the news of Joan Drobnis' passing. Joan left us unexpectedly on Sunday evening, leaving her family, friends, previous students, and the entire Feehan community in shock and mourning over a loss that is beyond measure.



Joan Drobnis was a dedicated Spanish educator at Bishop Feehan High School, where she committed 41 years of her life to teaching before her retirement in 2020. Over the years, she was recognized not only for imparting language skills but also for fostering curiosity, cultural understanding, and self-confidence in her students. Her influence extended well beyond the confines of her classroom.

During her tenure, Joan was a fundamental part of the world language department. She was an enthusiastic teacher, a revered guide, and the longstanding moderator of the Spanish National Honor Society, which was later renamed the Joan Drobnis Chapter in honor of her remarkable contributions. She also initiated the beloved Amigos program and arranged numerous summer excursions abroad, providing students with opportunities to discover the world each year.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Joan was beloved for her character. She was a proud spouse and mother, a kind and faithful friend, a person of strong faith, and someone who had a natural ability to bring people together. Her kindness, humor, and empathy established her as a true legend at Feehan.

Joan Drobnis' funeral services will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, found at 475 Washington Street in Canton, Massachusetts. Further plans and information will be communicated as they become available.
