WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — A tragic event occurred early on Christmas morning in Johnston County when a father and son perished in a tragic house blaze. Emergency responders were sent to a residence located on the 100 block of Red Oak Drive at approximately 5:07 a.m. Thursday, with firefighters arriving around seven minutes later to find the entire single-family home consumed by flames, clearly seen from the front of the structure.
Numerous 911 calls had indicated that people were trapped within the burning house. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identities of the deceased as Johnny Jones and Scott Jones, comprising a father and his son. Officials reported that a woman who was in the house managed to escape unharmed and received assistance from neighbors after her safe exit.
The reason for the fire has not been disclosed and is currently being investigated.
