 BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A young male has passed away following a shooting that took place on Sunday morning in a neighborhood in Boynton Beach, as reported by local officials.



Around 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, communications for the Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) received alerts regarding a juvenile who had sustained a gunshot wound near the 500 block of Northwest 9th Avenue. Officers arrived at the location and discovered 17-year-old Josiah Jones, a resident of Boynton Beach, who was suffering from an abdominal gunshot injury.

As per initial investigations, the incident arose from a dispute involving a relative of Jones and a 24-year-old individual, later known as Trenton Robinson from Georgia. Authorities indicated that as the conflict intensified, Jones sought to step in to break up the altercation between the two parties.

During the altercation, investigators claim that Robinson pulled out a gun from his pocket and fired a single shot, hitting Jones.

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue transported Jones to Delray Medical Center, where medical staff worked tirelessly to save him. Nonetheless, despite their efforts, Jones was ultimately declared dead at the hospital.

Officials stated that Robinson stayed at the location after the shooting and was apprehended without any issues. He has been charged with second-degree murder while carrying a firearm and is presently detained at the Palm Beach County Jail.

The Boynton Beach Police Department mentioned that the investigation is still in progress, with detectives actively collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to fully grasp the events that led to the shooting.
