 CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. — The community of Charleston County is expressing deep sorrow over the heartbreaking death of Max Bowersox, 55, from the area, who lost his life in a serious accident on Highway 23 at the intersection with Ben Hatcher Road in Burke County, Georgia, in the early hours of Monday, December 30, 2025.



As reported by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of a vehicle accident that involved injuries around 5:20 a.m. Initial findings suggest that Bowersox was operating a car in a westward direction on Ben Hatcher Road, where he did not adhere to a stop sign. His car struck the side of a southbound tractor-trailer on Highway 23.

Bowersox suffered critical injuries and was declared deceased at the location of the crash. Officials stated that the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is continuing the investigation into the incident.
