Oklahoma Shooting: Sandra Phelps Passes Away After Being Struck by an Errant Bullet on Christmas

 Oklahoma Shooting – A heartbreaking incident on Christmas Day 2025 has plunged the close-knit community of Comanche, Oklahoma, into grief following the death of a woman who was tragically hit by a stray bullet while celebrating the holiday with her loved ones. The individual who lost her life, identified as Sandra Phelps, was seated on a sheltered front porch alongside family members on December 25 when she was unexpectedly hit by one bullet. At the moment of the shooting, Phelps was reportedly cradling a child, emphasizing the tragic aspect of the event. Bystanders reported that multiple gunshots were heard originating from the north just prior to Phelps being struck.

Relatives shared that Phelps seemed to be initially unaware of the gravity of what had occurred. She allegedly commented, “someone received a new gun for Christmas,” right before she fell and softly uttered “ouch.” Following investigations, it was concluded that the bullet penetrated her upper right arm and then entered her chest cavity, resulting in fatal wounds.

Emergency services were called to the location at around 3:15 p.m. Despite their swift actions, Sandra Phelps was declared deceased at the site shortly after the first responders arrived. Law enforcement quickly initiated an investigation to identify the origin of the gunfire. Later that evening, deputies took Cody Wayne Adams, a 33-year-old neighbor, into custody concerning the shooting. Authorities revealed that Adams had been discharging a newly acquired Glock .45-caliber pistol in his backyard when the incident occurred.

During his interrogation, Adams informed investigators that he was engaging in target practice by shooting at a Red Bull can positioned on his deck.
